I was born in St Austell and brought up in Falmouth. On my mothers side I have traced ancestors back to 1666, in Feock. Other ancestors are from all over, but I have solid roots here.

I've never actually 'lived' in Cornwall, but spend a lot of time there. According to a family tree thingymajig I found, my ancestors can be traced back to Cornwall to pre-11th century (Domesday Book). How come I don't feel Cornish? Maybe if I moved a mile or two across to the other side of the Tamar my heritage might rub off on me

Never mind the gravy, think of all those crumbs getting in all the nooks and crannies!

My ex parents-in-law in their 90's now, both born in cornwall and lived all their lives there, both sides of the family go back to the 1500's around meva. Cuz of WWii my ex husband was born in yorkshire but he would be mortified if you said he isnt a cornishman cuz he was born in England!! My eldest son was born in poole dorset but lived in cornwall since he was 3 yrs old and considers himself a Cornishman by default and very proud of it. My youngest was born in cornwall and both kids are staunch Cornishmen even though their mum - me - hasnt got a drop of cornish blood in her (welsh and irish, so celt anyhoos). My step son even got married in a cornish kilt much to the amusement of all in southampton!! I dont live in cornwall anymore but I still think of it as 'home' even though I live in England now, and I am passionate (politically) about Cornwall.

Hi folks
Although I wasn't born in Cornwall, I have lived here since I was 6 and both my parents and all their ancestors were Cornish so I think I qualify.
Anyway does it really matter - it's who you are and what you do that really matters!!!!!!!!!!!
I like to play devil's advocate

i was born in devon but moved to cornwall in 1997! i prefer the lifestyle and the laid back attitude in cornwall - more than across the tamar! i plan to spend the rest of my life here (after already spending a third here so far) and hopefully be adopted into the cornish family. although i am an outsider i dont want to make any changes to cornwall. i moved here to go to the school of mines and never left. i am a plumbing and heating engineer so i hope i am earning my right to live here!

well thanks! but due to my drinking antics (i turn in to a stag on heat! -well maybe without the stag! and more of a gesture instead of heat!) i might be more of a hinderence than an asset!!
