I am Cornish and very, very proud to be! Possibly controversially, have to say that unless your birth certificate says Cornwall you can't profess to be Cornish. My roots here go back to at least 1440 as I am a little bit Rosevear. Think we Cornish should be able to have a Cornish passport at the very least.

Too true !!

You're either Cornish at birth, or you'll never be !!

My ex parents-in-law in their 90's now, both born in cornwall and lived all their lives there, both sides of the family go back to the 1500's around meva. Cuz of WWii my ex husband was born in yorkshire but he would be mortified if you said he isnt a cornishman cuz he was born in England!! My eldest son was born in poole dorset but lived in cornwall since he was 3 yrs old and considers himself a Cornishman by default and very proud of it. My youngest was born in cornwall and both kids are staunch Cornishmen even though their mum - me - hasnt got a drop of cornish blood in her (welsh and irish, so celt anyhoos). My step son even got married in a cornish kilt much to the amusement of all in southampton!! I dont live in cornwall anymore but I still think of it as 'home' even though I live in England now, and I am passionate (politically) about Cornwall.

Hi folks

Although I wasn't born in Cornwall, I have lived here since I was 6 and both my parents and all their ancestors were Cornish so I think I qualify.

Anyway does it really matter - it's who you are and what you do that really matters!!!!!!!!!!!

i was born in devon but moved to cornwall in 1997! i prefer the lifestyle and the laid back attitude in cornwall - more than across the tamar! i plan to spend the rest of my life here (after already spending a third here so far) and hopefully be adopted into the cornish family. although i am an outsider i dont want to make any changes to cornwall. i moved here to go to the school of mines and never left. i am a plumbing and heating engineer so i hope i am earning my right to live here!
