what does everyone think of the amount of new houses the councle ect are ploping everywhere up and down the county, even if the numbers are ranging from 17 to a thousand, are they out side your house, in a field you used to walk through? or dumped in the middle of a landscape that used to be beautiful but now just looks like poo?

It sounds like a good thing to me. There's a longstanding housing shortage crisis in the UK. The recession has made it worse; what with the construction industry being one of the biggest effected, and many first time buyers not being able to secure a mortgage

... it's about time something was done about it. As regards the landscape, I don't think houses ruin a landscape: walk further or take a different route - or move on to one of the houses so you don't have to look at it?

I was quite looking forward to this forum becoming a bit more lively, its currently about as exciting as my love life

What would you propose to alleviate the situation?

The population in the uk is growing at an alarming rate, people have to be housed somewhere or maybe we could just keep all the green fields and have tent cities and people living in sewers a la America.

Until immigration and birth rates and sorted out, which is never going to happen because the people in power are spineless morons, then things will only get worse.

I dread to think what this country will be like in 50 or 100 years time, a complete concrete jungle...
