Ok, your body is a simple energy input/output system.

Eating = input

Exercise = output

If your input is higher than your output then you'll gain weight, and vice versa. So there's no trick to the physics of it. You just need to eat less calories per day, and burn more by exercising. Easy! Also, although your body tends to burn off certain areas quicker than others, it will rearrange the fat in time. So for me my tummy loses weight quickly, then a couple of weeks later my face looks thinner. 'Targeting' areas will tone muscles there, but fat is lost in a fairly uniform way over time.

The real problem is motivating yourself to keep to your routine. I suggest finding someone to diet with so you can challenge each other (a bit of a bitch is better than a soft touch!). And give yourself reachable goals. Also, don't weigh yourself everyday because daily fluctuations can be quite misleading. You'll obviously weigh more after a meal, and less after using the loo. A weekly weigh-in is ample.

This spring I lost 19lbs!

Hope that helps.

Good luck Very Happy

Ah fair enough. It was having an exercise buddy that made all the difference for me. Very Happy

It also helps to imagine how your life will be so much better when you are slimmer - and it does make a difference. You don't just look different; you feel better and people treat you differently too.

Anyway, I wish you luck. I've waffled on enough already...

My tip is always to be careful of how much sugar you eat, I suspect you already eating low fat, but it is sugar that's the real killer! The GI diet saw me drop from a size 14 to an 8 so I know what it's like. Be careful of low fat products they are nearly always beefed up with sugar which messes with your appetite and makes you more hungry. Good luck!
