Home >> United Kingdom >> Edinburgh >> The Olympics put me off my Sugar Puffs
21.08.2008, 20:34 quote
Okay, okay, so the Olypmics have been on for weeks now but I didn't realise just how much coverage the BBC were going to give it!
Two weeks ago (or thereabouts), I sat down with my morning cuppa and my bowl of sugar puffs (the only reason I bought them was a buy-one-get-one-free offer in my local scotmid) and switched on the ol' radiation tube. I do this every morning so I can see the news on BBC1 and gain some insight into what's happening in the world (actually, I only do this so I can win when someone does a quiz out of a newspaper).
Hold on a minute though, there was no news! Instead of Mr. and Mrs. Newscaster sitting on their red, corporate sofas telling me that the price of sugar is about to sky-rocket, I had the Olympics.
Fair enough I suppose - still watchable. But see it wasn't because what was on tv, was the men's paired diving or something. Now, do I want to wake up to the sight of a 14 year-old boy in speedos twirling his body about in the air?
I think not and can you blame me?
