im heading to london in june for a weekend and was wondering if i could get some tips on hotels and that as i dont got a clue of london

I guess it depends on where in London you are going. The centre is very expensive ....... you won't have a problem in a place that big. If I lived in London I'd offer but I'm in Worcester so.......

In some ways, asking people who live in London is a bad idea, because those of us who live there don't need to rent a place to stay, so on average are probably not the most clued up. Despite my Norfolk tag, I spent most of my life in London & have plenty of places to crash for free, so I'm not much use either.

Perhaps try forums relating other parts of the UK and try to find people who've stayed at such places in London and can recommend places they have used themselves.
