apologies for ranting, but its such an insult to our intelligence when men, quite obviously put up a photo of someone they are not.

just be yourself rather than pretending to be someone else.
this might be a shock to some of you guys, but alot of us girls actually care much more about whats inside than what you look like!

rant over haha.

I'm guessing that looks ARE important when people are just wanting 'fun' 'casual' 'flings' BUT for a long term relationship I reckon that other qualities are far more important than just being skin deep and in enters LOVE rather than LUST although how great when you have the both!!!

Well i think the reason's obvious... they're just not confident enough. They want to impress women from the get-go which's sad. Being a guy(there's a difference lol) i rather do it the old fashon way... let women do the judging of how i look vs personality... "Friendship first"

My two pence worth:
It's all very interesting as how exactly do women know the difference between who is real and who isn't? What if some poor guy really is a male model and is ignored because his photo appears this way. Also, seeing as many people like to get professional photos done these days, to put on the wall at home or wherever, some photos might look like they're straight from google images "male model", but in fact aren't.
A further point would be that if looks are so unimportant to people that claim this, why is there such a huge discussion about the photos in the first place? I mean, ask for a photo - if the guy really is genuine then he'll send you one of himself, if he doesn't, you know not to continue.
If on the other hand you're simply presuming that the photo is not of that person, then that says more about you than it does about them - from the respect that you're judging them before even giving them a chance. I guess many people want to hide who they are, or at the least dress up the reality - it's obviously a ridiculously bad idea, but some people will always try, and others are not confident about how they look, I mean that's the reason most guys go to the gym! To pretend that everyone's ok with how they look, just isn't very realistic. When I put up pictures of myself, I obviously chose nice ones, I'm not going to put up horrid ones - but I'll send them to someone if I like them and they ask me to, that is not to say that the ones I chose to put up are not of me though, they're merely the ones I like of myself

My rant over lol.

lol, i guess that love sells, and some people want to try and boost a lack of confidence by adding a fake pic, or missing out there face, or hump, or whatever it is they are hiding in their photos, then i am sure eventually, that may float someones boat and love will blossom, and good luck to them.

I want people on here to take me seriously (to a degree), i have only just joined, if i dont get replies from any women then i wont winge about it, or have a little cry into my cereal in the morning... regardless of what anyone says, the first bite is with the eye, so you may have a blinding personality, but no woman is gonna give you a message if you look like the elephant man, or if it looks like you could benefit from a bath, so if a fake picture gets ya foot in the door so to speak, then go for it!

Isn't it rude to ask a lady her age, or is that a thing of the past? Wink

Did you not know it was rude to ask a woman her age? You should ask her how much she weighs instead Laughing

I also don't see the point in posting fake pictures, as if you're going to meet up at some stage, they'll soon find out. I'd say it perhaps shows a lack of confidence on their part, or it's what they think women are looking for.

On another note, people probably don't believe that I'm 25yrs old when they see my pics. They are however genuine, and show me just at the beginning of this year, apart from the blue top one, that was from last summer. However it was down to health problems that I now look a lot younger than my age. One day it'll be a blessing though Very Happy

My problem though is that I have difficulty believing any girl would be interested in me, because I look so young, when they could have your average normal looking guy, who looks his age. People are always surprised when I tell them how old I am.

As it is, I've had no views! Maybe that says something about my appearance?

Haha I know just what you mean f1fanatic25 Im 21 and Im still being ided. You may be thankful for your youthful looks in 5-10 years time.

I happen to like seeing the faces of ladies rather than more obvious assets, since you can gauge more about someone from it. Also its always a boon when they actually write something about themselves so you get a glimpse at their personality.

In order to know how people think I like to employ the Karl Popper positivist theory – you interpret the input from your seances as reality thus forming an idea or model of what the world around you looks like, one cannot ask whether this model represents reality only that is works.

Now this may seem a long long shot at human behaviour but in fact its closer than most people think. For instance man “A” we can call him Ponsonby feels insecure about him self this is brought on by a distorted view of him self and fuelled by the desire to look like some one popular e.g. To be honest I am not sure what the ladies like but insert hot man of the moment what ever I am just gana use Beckham, now when Beckham started wearing an alice band all of a sudden every one started doing it and there is a logical reason why, it all boils down to procreation.

You see it in many species where there is a higher arkey and only the most dominant males can mate with the females. So what you find is that many of the lesser males try to copy the alpha male hoping to attract a female on the sly but this is not with out its merits, females with out cubs will some times mate with such males, further more this also insures genetic diversity. This is not to dissimilar to what Ponsonby does when he wears the alice band just like Beckham.

So to lie about ones self, not only works but is an evolutionary trait. So wile this is not the only reason why some one would lie about them selves and thus not an an accurate representation of reality, it is a working model in some cases. So yes not only do some men think woman are that stupid, more shockingly some times it works.

Now I make this in bold because I want people to understand that this is JUST ! An observation. If you want to contest it please do so I would rather be wrong and learn more than be right and ignorant. But please no “because I say so”

On a personal note I think there is nothing sexier than a woman who is smarter than you are and I know this sounds really nerdy but meh I am what I are Razz

Her age was consistant but her picture was well younger than her appearance lol. I know one thing for sure I have learned a valuable lesson even at my tender age:)I think it would be a good idea to ask the person if there pic is up to date and also to provide more up to date pics and that way it's a little more reasuring, hopefully without being disapointed in the end. There's an old saying that goes "never judge a book by it's cover always flick through the pages" (might not be word for word) is very appropriate here.

awe poor lady..well i go with the ''never judge a book by its cover'' sometimes people actually look their age and they cannot help it..its for people to look beyond ''looks'' and get to know the person inside , which i think matters most of all. Having said that, everyone is entitled to choose who they want to date so not judging here but agreeing in the end. Wink
