So, first off...I'm american. I'll be moving to London about two days! Now, I consider myself to be a pretty nice person to know...but then again most people probably think that way about themselves, and as much as I'd like to believe I get along with everyone, I really don't want to make an ass out of myself when I move to London.

So I guess, I'm ask'n for advice on the big no-no's americans tend to make when visiting or stayin in the uk. (and just to put this out there I really, really, really dislike Bush.....he's a freak'n ASS!....that said, plez try not to hold some of his actions against me, lol).

hahah Im an aussie and we probly make asses of our selves then you guys. Most of the americans are very well mannered and quite polite. Just what ever you do DO NOT TRY TO PAY FOR ANYTHING IN $US.

Its more of a Tourist thing. You see americans having a hissy fit because they cant pay for things in USD.

Hi there. I'm an American who has been living in London for a couple of years now. Of course, be yourself. Don't pretend to be someone that you're not. But one thing that I wish Americans who lived/traveled abroad was just quiet/slow down a bit. Americans have a reputation for being loud and impatient, which of course is not true of everybody, which is why I hate it when Americans (like my brother) live up to the stereotype and shout halfway across the restaurant "yo, waiter, can we get the check please!" In the end, British and American cultures aren't that different, but just be open to the sublte differences, be yourself, and enjoy.

I disagree, I think they should wear Rupert Bear trousers, and also pink jumpers and jester hats so that we know they are American and can make allowances. Laughing
