anyone got any views about red ken exrtending the congestion charge?
have you noticed any improvement to public transport in the london area since the congestion charge was introduced a few years ago?
£2 minimum to ride a bus now on a local route, are we getting value for money? what would make people use public transport more?
are you happy to get an oyster card so that you can travel at half price but have your movements tracked?
are there too many questions in this post? UT

I hate the congestion charge, but pay it.
Reasons at the end of the day, can get in my car....play my music without being told to turn it down, have my own seat and am not forever having to listen to school kids shouting and screaming at one another........

One way to beat the congestion charge is to ride a bike instead of driving. Another way is to buy an electric car as electric cars are exempt from the charge.

well public transport works out cheaper, its just wether you want to waste half of your life waiting for it, then when it arrives, sharing it with sometimes very antisocial people? i was cycling in to work or on rainy days getting the bus because quite frankly the parking fees in all the car parks in croydon are hideous.

how ever i do think the fares on public transport have become unfair, if you dont have an oyster card you pay double...not everyone wants to commit to pre paid passes. perhaps im just moaning but everyone seems to want to penalize customers these days if they want to pay by cash, its not on really, we should all be revolting Razz

The problem with the congestion charge etc is that money is not being put into decent viable alternatives, or not enough is being put in.

The tube is rubbish first thing in the morning and all it takes is for one nutter to jump under a train and the transport network grinds to a halt. Why dont LU put those glass screens along the tube lines like they do at Westminster and a few of the stations on the Jubilee Line? Doing this will at least stop a few accidental deaths on the lines and a lot more intentional ones.

Buses are full of kids on ASBO's scratching the crap out of the glass and listening to 50cent on full blast on their phones. Night buses are just full of nutters, and as of yet I have never seen one of those TFL police officers on the bus. The driving standards of bus drivers puts me off cycling along the road.

London Cabs after dark are extortionate and if you get a mini cab they do not have insurance for hire and reward a lot of the time. Or if your female you'll end up getting raped.

Sorry about the rant really but it just winds me up that more money gets sucked from our wallets by Red Ken and we never seem to get any improvements.

Anyway.... Nice to meet you all.

Sadly, there isn't one which is the annoying thing.

If Ken put some decent money into the transport network we could have one of the best transport infrastructures in the world. But as he is too busy spending the money on the olympics and god knows what.

I thought the idea of the congestion charge was to reduce the congestion and that the money raised would be put into the transport network so that people would rather travel by tube bus etc rather than using their own car..... obviously not. Its just designed to fleece us more whilst remaining the same.
