A 17 year old guy "Marco" has been in prison Turkey for 5 months - innocently - as he met a 13 year old girl from Oldham (Manchester) on his holidays.

They have not had sex but a sort of "holiday flirt". This girl, "Charlotte" pretended to be 15 - in order to make herself more interesting.

Anyway, the summer flirt ended as they had some sort of argument and as Charlottes parents didn't like him..someone this ended up in a really complicated situation.

I don't know the details, but basically, in Turkey the laws are really strict and Marco is now in big problems....and his future looks really bad. He has to stay in Turkey and can not go to school anymore etc...

One of the main problems is that Charlottes parents from Oldham don't give a sh*** and don't talk to anyone anymore...and told her daughter not to talk to anyone anymore.

I came to the conclusion that:

Turkey is a backward country that should not be astonished that nobody wants them to join the European Union...

I wish there was more media attention in the UK - so if enough people that know this family would remind them that they are doing something wrong...it would probably help the situation a lot....
