Hola folks,

I've been doing that Jilly's/Rockworld for what feels like aeons and it's starting to wear more than a little thin, I've been to Caged Asylum a few times and whilst cool it doesn't have the same mix of peeps that RW has. Anyone got any recommendations for other venues?

Hiya mate. While I'm still pretty new to Manchester, I've been to a few alright places. Jilly's Rock Hole and Caged asylum are probably the only heavier rock venues though, apart from Rock Kitchen in the MMU. Not so heavy but still very different are Dot-dash at the Scubar once a month, and the Kings Arms in Salford which puts some good alternative nights on in the psychedelic theatre upstairs. Islington Mills has a few good nights too.

Dunno if it's still going but Satan's Hollow used to have a cracking rock night on I think it was a wednesday night. They used to do £10 in and free drinks all night as well but that got cut out because of the binge drinking thing Sad

Satan's Hollow is mostly a punk/ska/emo venue during the week but it has a more general rock night on weekends. Aside from that, it's usually Rock Kitchen at the Met on Saturdays, Rockworld on Fridays and Caged Asylum for me.

Presumably if you've been going to Manchester forever, you know about Mondays at the Ritz...

There's a rock and metal pub/bar on Oxford Road near the Thirsty Scholar - I think it's called Grand Central. A friend of mine has played there a few times and said it has some good nights/bands on.
Caged Asylum isn't too bad considering and I know the Ruby Lounge occasionally has good band nights (mainly rock) on too as I've played there myself. There's always Jabez Clegg, the Attic or 5th Avenue (maybe even 42nd Street, though I've not been there myself). Other than them, you may have exhausted your possibilities.

Thanks all. Looks like I'm going to have to put myself to the challenge of seeing how much emo I can take and get myself to Satans Hollow. Wish me luck Very Happy

Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread but it's relevant, honest Embarassed

Same subject, Manchester, rock nights, etc, but I need to know if there any rock nights on Sundays? I'm going to see Bullet For My Valentine at the Apollo and staying the night in Manchester so hoping there'll be a club we can go to after?

Thanks in advance Very Happy
